Mad Robots Band Logo and Album Cover Art

Mad Robots is a very unique psychedelic + stoner metal band.

They felt that their 4th album is the best ever, so for the bigger impact they went for a full visual identity change, including changing their original logo.

For the album cover design, I’ve got a really simple brief, they do not want anything else on the cover but the new logo and the album title.

But the title of the album Pareidolia carries too much opportunity to miss it.

The definition of pareidolia is the tendency for the incorrect perception of a stimulus as an object, pattern or meaning known to the observer, such as seeing shapes in clouds, seeing faces in inanimate objects or abstract patterns, or hearing hidden messages in music.

Here is the final solution, whereby typographical tools we cause a similar perception to pareidolia.

At the textual parts of the digipack, there is a tiny hidden puzzling game under the same umbrella.

From the highlighted letters you can put together meaningful words.

Such as the world P-A-R-E-I-D-O-L-I-A is hidden in between the song titles or from the member names you can put together the name of the band M-A-D-R-O-B-O-T-S.

More than that each song’s lyrics include highlighted letters that print out a certain song title.

No big hope that anyone would notice these, but that is the point of pareidolia, isn’t it?

Before the album’s release, the band came out with a couple of singles. The visual platform of the single covers already teases the following album cover.

These are also simple typo solutions with a minimal twist.
